This is a quick before and after of Ship Island, off the coast of Gulfport. In the top pic, there is a cut created by Hurricane Camille in '69. Katrina widened that cut by three times the distance. There is also a second cut on the eastern tip of West Ship Island. From a boat, that new cut looks navigable by a shallow draft boat. East Ship Island is almost completely gone.
