For whoever asked about Long Beach,
Their telephones went out around 10:04 a.m. and there were a few reports of trapped people in houses. Other than that, very little info out there.
For stories about Mississippi's Gulf Coast and the aftermath go to www.sunherald.com.
For up-to-date info getting fed in by more feet on the ground go to the Sun Herald blog at http://eyesonkatrina.blogspot.com.

are you able to see cable news? can it be trusted? i'm wont to play down their hysterics, especially with a highly excitable grandmother in tow...

who, by the way, is def not going to be coming anywhere near the beau rivage, even if it were in perfect shape. so ix-nay on the ee-fray inners-day - even if mary mahoney's is still standing. we're either turning back or she's flying home from memphis, accent most probably on the former. best for us to part ways so i can set about getting to you by the weekend - by hook or by crook - if there is a way for it to be done, i will do it.

as soon as you know about your homes, please please tell.

i am thinking of you every minute, praying your lives as you knew them are recognizable in at least some small and comforting facet.

josh, i should have told you what your birthday presents were after all.

love you,
r.c.l.

Thank you for keeping the blog. My sister's house is on Plantation Dr. in Long Beach, off of Beatline a bit south of Pineville Rd. What are the chances her house is still there?

If anyone knows anything, could you please email me at asb3rd@aol.com? Thanks all
