My complete appreciation to you guys for this blog. I'm high and dry in Houston, but my friend's dad was in Ocean Springs. Thank god for a two story house - they survived. Thank all of creation that you all are still alive. I'm wondering, what happened to the dolphins? Our SPCA has gotten a ton of animals, and you mentioned that deer a while back...

There's a new message board/support group for Katrina. www.katrinatalk.org Come over and give some support and get some, too. Josh or Mk, would you mind posting a link to it?

Hey Keller,
thanks for response. you are doing such valuable work under dire circumstances. a few minutes ago, a kind stranger from Atlanta, just returned from Stennis Space Center area, called us to say that Deb and Don Joost survived Katrina in their boat along with other shrimp boats. No other info was available. NIgel's aunt and uncle had given the stranger a piece of paper with our tel # and request to call us to let us know they had survived a rough ride. He said he had many calls to make. We are greatly relieved and thankful for the news. Thankful to you, MIke, to all of you who are helping. If you come across any other info, it would be greatly appreciated. We would love to know how to get supplies to you and to them if possible. So glad you had a hot meal at last. Thinking of you. The Hamm family

Hey guys---I live in Indiana, far away from any coast except Lake Michigan; yet you two have made me feel right in the middle of the storm (and its after-effects...:( ). This blog has definately been the most moving that I have ever read. The cockiness that you displayed at the beginning quickly dissipated to true compassion; and I think you guys both deserve a Pulitzer for the great, if informal, reporting.

Great work you're doing here, friend. I can't help but watch in horror at the events, but things like this blog are a bright spot in the gloom & a reminder of what people are really capable of. Cheers.

Your account of this disaster has really hit home to me. The news can't capture some of these pictures to make this a reality for those of us in the North. Our prayers go out to you and to yours...

Craig’s List has an incredible number of offers for housing, relocation and support but most aren’t being responded to because the word is just not getting out to affected people.

MoveOn.org is organizing housing relief.

All, please help with disseminating information about this to those who need it.

Amazing work, guys. Truly.

For lack of being able to get any word from our family in Long Beach and Biloxi (other than that they are alive, thank God), your blog has been like a life-line.

Oh and.. Beers are on me next time you're in Nashville.

Hey Josh and Mike:

If you know of any organizations with working phones that are accepting physical volunteers, email me at erik.german@newsday.com or my hotmail account or post them on the blog. I'm doing a story right now on places people can go or call if they want to head south to help. Bon courage.

I think the Bush administration has made their decision: Let everyone still there die, and then start fresh. They're pretty sure they got all the wealthy white people out already.

Thank you for providing this service to all of us who are so far away from Mississippi and New Orleans at this moment, but hold these places close to our hearts. What you have done is really extraordinary. Be safe.

Best wishes from London UK.

Reports from the Superdome are the most frightening I can remember.

Let this nightmare end as soon as possible.

Take care, Clayton.
